Congratulations to the Town of Salem Fire/Rescue (combination department) and Mundelein Fire Department (full time department) for receiving the Flight For Life-McHenry Base Annual Scene Call of the Year Award for 2008 at their village board meetings on June 8th and July 13th, respectively. Though each call was dramatically different, they were both expertly managed with professionalism and safety at the forefront.
Congratulations to the Town of Delafield Fire Department, who received the Flight For Life Transport System-Waukesha/Milwaukee Base's 2008 Scene Call of the Year Award at their town's Board meeting on November 18th, 2009. This award was given in recognition of exemplary teamwork and superb allocation of resources, under the direction of the unified command structure established by the department at the scene of a very challenging call just about one year ago (December, 2008). Two crash sites, separated by about 50 yards, with multiple patients in both vehicles - adult and pediatric - required triage, stabilization, and in one instance a very prolonged and complex extrication. All victims received the optimum in patient care by the multiple agencies who provided mutual aid response; above all, safety remained the number one priority.
