Flight Paramedic Rich Boeshaar

receives Darold M Hoelz Award

Rick Boeshaar, Fight Paramedic with Flight For Life, who also serves his country as a Flight Medic, in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, has been named recipient of the "Darold M. Hoelz Award" from the 832nd Medical Company, which is stationed in West Bend, Wisconsin.

Rick’s award was based on "his attitude towards safety for his crewmembers and patients during 'Operation Rollback' in North Dakota in March of 2009." 'Operation Rollback Water' involved National Guard units from across the country who assisted the citizens of North Dakota when severe flooding occurred in that state in the month of March, 2009.

Rick was recognized for his forward thinking and planning for this mission, which greatly reduced the risk of cold weather injuries. It ensured that our military personnel were prepared to transport patients safely and perform hoist operations as needed.

We would like to congratulate Rick and the entire 832nd for the outstanding and exemplary services they provided to those citizens during that difficult time. We commend the 832nd for their unselfish response to the citizens in need and thank them for their hard work and dedication as National Guard Reservists.
