About Our Crew

Crew members must meet the following qualifications:

Pilots

  • Minimum of 2,000 hours rotor wing flying
  • Commercial and instrument certification
  • Apollo employees

Nurses

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Wisconsin license
  • Minimum of three current years adult critical care or emergency department experience (prefer both)
  • Pre-hospital EMS experience preferred
  • Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • One of: ATLS audit, TPATC, and NRP must be obtained within the first year of employment
  • Certification as one of CEN, CCRN, CFRN or CTRN is required for nurses within two years of employment
  • Extensive supervised orientation
  • Must successfully pass Human Patient Simulator (HPS) scenarios with Medical Director to complete orientation

Paramedics

  • Active paramedic, employed within an EMS system providing critical care, in good standing within their system and the Medical Director of their system
  • Certification and licensure as a critical care paramedic in Wisconsin
  • Minimum of three years experience working as a paramedic in the critical care environment
  • Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • One of: ATLS audit, TPATC, and NRP must be obtained within the first year of employment
  • Certification as one of FP-C or CCP-C is required for paramedics within two years of employment
  • Extensive supervised orientation
  • Must successfully pass Human Patient Simulator (HPS) scenarios with Medical Director to complete orientation

Medical Control

  • Online medical control

Mechanics

  • Dedicated to the aircraft 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
  • Aircraft factory certified
  • Performs all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • All components inspected, overhauled, or replaced based on preventative maintenance schedule 
  • Apollo employees

Physicians - Waukesha/Burlington Bases

  • When scheduled, on selected shifts
  • Second or third year residents currently participating in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program, Medical College of Wisconsin
  • Medical College of Wisconsin Physicians participating in an EMS fellowship  

Communication Specialists

  • IAMTCS (International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists) certified flight communicators
  • Strong EMS and dispatch background
  • Extensive weather training
