Flight For Life partners with Froedtert Health’s CVICU team to transport patients that require intensive care. These transports often include the use of cardiac assist devices such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, ECMO, Impellas, and Ventricle Assist Devices. At times, a Froedtert perfusionist may accompany the flight team to manage the ECMO device. All medical flight crew members complete extensive cardiac assist device training, which includes hands-on and classroom education annually. This training allows our crew to manage these devices if a member of the specialty team is not available.
Flight For Life also works collectively with the Children’s Wisconsin transport team for all neonatal and pediatric interfacility transports. The Children’s Transport team carries a wide variety of equipment and medications that aid in the successful treatment and transport of these patients. The Children’s Transport team also utilizes an isolette for all neonatal transports. Flight For Life medical crew members are trained in the use of all Children’s Transport team equipment, isolette, and safety procedures annually.
Flight For Life can respond to any scene or interfacility hospital request utilizing leading-edge medical equipment and life-saving skills to allow for an optimal patient outcome.
